PhD student council meeting with PhD studies advisor Fredrik Häggström

The March meeting of the ICT PhD student council will take place on upcoming Wednesday, the 9th of March. We are very happy that this time we are joined by KTH's PhD studies advisor Fredrik Häggström, who will be available to answer questions regarding the PhD process. You are all very welcome to join us for the meeting and talk with Fredrik and the council about any questions, problems or suggestions you might have.

2010 Election Results

Four board members were elected. The results are as follows:

Olof Götberg: 3 votes
Katharina Rasch: 5 votes
Mohsin Saleemi: 3 votes

The next meeting of the council will take place in January 2011.

1) Constitution update
The revised constitution (2010-12-01) was approved by all board members.

1) Upcoming elections
Elections for the ICT PhD council will take place on the 1st of December. We will also announce it via the mailing list and on Facebook shortly. Baki Cakici will be performing the duties of the election committee.


2) Future social events
Chris suggested organising a monthly jam session for ICT PhDs. He will talk to the student unions active in the Forum to see if they have any space we can use for the event regularly. Magnus will check if there are other options available in ICT or in Kista.

Olof will send an email draft to the council to start an ICT PhD jogging group.
 
3) Revising the constitution
The council will discuss the revisions via email and meet again in November to approve the new document.

1) Kista BBQ - October 13th, 2010
The council will be organizing a BBQ for all ICT PhD students on the 13th of October at the Forum building (room Kistan). More information available here.

2) Orientation Day in October
Baki will send a doodle link to the council to set a date for the orientation day. We will try to have it in the second half of October. All responsibilities for the organization are listed in last month's meeting minutes.

1) Orientation Day in October
We will decide on a date based on when the invited speakers are available. Magnus will contact the speakers. Olof will arrange finances. As soon as we have decided on the date we will book the room and Baki will send the invitation letter to the mailing list. Magnus and Stefano will update the documents from last year.

2) BBQ 2010
Preliminary date is September 30th, depending on the availability of the locale.
